MLK Weekend Havdallah Study Session

  • January 18, 2020
  • 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
  • Shir Tikvah

Shir Tikvah will be hosting Havdallah, led by our Racial Justice Task Force, using Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” address to stimulate conversation about the actions needed today and our role as Jews. Join Tamar Ghidalia, Jim Rubenstein & Gayle Zoffer for a conversation on Radical Hospitality and what it means to be welcoming and inclusive in our congregation.

Photo: Dr. King with Maurice Eisendrath, holding the Torah, and Abraham Joshua Heschel in Montgomery Alabama. At the time Rabbi Eisendrath was the leader of the North American Reform movement, and Rabbi Heschel was a famous Jewish philosopher and teacher who “prayed with his feet” when he marched with Dr. King.

Shir Tikvah’s Racial Justice Task Force was charged by the congregation in 2017 to pursue racial diversity and racial justice, both within our congregation and in the greater community.

The task force periodically assesses the racial justice and diversity of all aspects of congregational life, provides training and recommendations to further racial diversity and justice at Shir Tikvah and enables members and friends of Shir Tikvah to improve race relations in the broader Twin Cities.
