Natan Sharansky has been a face of the modern day Exodus since his request to make aliyah from the Former Soviet Union ended with a 13 year prison sentence. After serving nine years in the gulag, many of those in solitary confinement, massive public outcry led to his release. On the day he was released, Sharansky made aliyah. Natan Sharansky began fighting for human rights as soon as he arrived in Israel. He established the Zionist Forum to assist new immigrants from the Former Soviet Union in absorption to Israeli society. Later, he established a political party to accelerate the integration of Russian Jews. Sharansky served in four Israeli governments and received the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Currently, he is the author of three best-selling books and the Chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency.Click HERE for more information.
